The Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has announced the return of Amadou Haidara to training after recovering from his knee ligament surgery.

Haidara, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 2-1 loss against Borussia Dortmund last week, was given a full recovery period before he returned to training on Monday.

"It's great that he is back and ready for the upcoming matches," RB Leipzig head coach Joachim Löw said.

"I am very happy with his progress and I think he will be available for us in the coming weeks."

Haidara's return comes just two months after he suffered a similar knee injury to his right leg during the 2018/19 season. He had been ruled out of action due to a hamstring injury sustained in the opening match of the season.

The German international joined RB Leipzig from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017 and made his debut in the Bundesliga for the club in May 2018.

He has since become one of the most promising young talents in Europe and has been named as the Bundesliga Player of the Month for March.

In his absence, Haidara has struggled to make an impact in the midfield and has notched up only three goals in 46 appearances so far this season. However, the 25-year-old has shown some resilience and has already established himself as one of the team's key players.
